Guava Chilli Popsicles
These deliciously creamy popsicles were a big hit with my family. Made with ripe guavas, they have subtle kick from the addition of Kashmiri red chilli powder. They can be made with white or pink guavas (or store-bought guava pulp, if you have access to it). Sweet, mildly spicy and and very moreish, this is a recipe you must try.
Recipe
Guava Chili Popsicles
(Makes 8)
Ingredients
3 very ripe guavas
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream ( I used Amul Whipping Cream)
1/3 cup sweetened, condensed milk
1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
1/4 tsp black salt
2 tsp lemon juice
2 drops pink food colour (optional)
Method
Peel and chop the guavas into quarters. Use a spoon to mash them through a stainless steel sieve and extract the pulp. Set aside 1/2 cup of guava pulp.
Use an electric handheld mixer to whip the cream into soft peaks. Add the remaining ingredients and whisk until well combined.
Spoon the mixture into popsicle molds and place in the freezer for 40 minutes. Insert a wooden skewer into each popsicle and freeze until set.
Dip the molds into a cup of boiling water, extract the popsicles and enjoy!
