Hot Buttered Milk
This is an old recipe that didn’t make it to the blog... until now. I figured World Milk Day would be a good enough occasion to share it. With the rains approaching, a cozy cup of this warm spiced beverage would be perfect to curl up on the couch with (it also doubles as a satisfying a nightcap). Happy sipping!
Recipe
Hot Buttered Milk
(Serves 2)
Ingredients
4 tablespoons salted butter, at room temperature
4 tbsp coconut or brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1 clove, powdered
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups milk (full fat works best)
2-3 tbsp whipped cream, for topping (optional)
Method
In a bowl, whisk together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and vanilla until pale and fluffy.
In a saucepan, warm the milk over medium heat until it steaming.
Place 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture in two cups. Pour the hot milk into each and blend well. Top with the whipped cream if using, sprinkle some powdered cinnamon on top and serve immediately.
